Team GB excelled in the rowing events at Rio 2016, and as a centre of rowing excellence Henley is home to a lot of the athletes who ended this summer several Olympic gold medals stronger. To achieve the heights they reached in the rowing events takes not only a great deal of personal dedication, but also brilliant team work. Team work, of course, involves skills and tools that we also use and benefit from in the workplace.
Inspired by the Olympics, and the rowing in particular, we spent last Thursday morning at Henley’s wonderful River and Rowing Museum in Mill Meadows before it opened to the public.
We had the opportunity to see the collections on display in the Rowing Gallery before our good friend, client and Olympic medal winner in Moscow 1980, Charles Wiggin, gave us a short ‘pep’ talk.
After all that mental exercise we replenished our energy downstairs in the cafe. The Quince Tree cafe’s breakfast menu allows for a hearty or continental breakfast so we filled up before returning to the studio mid-morning.
It was a great way to end the summer season and begin Autumn 2016, raring to go!
