The challenge
Xerox Sales people were unable to easily find, configure and
order the correct SKUs for a product configuration due to a
cumbersome printed product part list. This caused errors in
ordering, resulting in wasted time, energy and incorrect parts
being shipped to customers.
The solution
Signals have developed an online and offline application that
enables users to 'build' a machine to their exact specifications
and to view a dynamically generated photo of the product as they
build it.
The tool integrates with Xerox's live European pricing
database and provides users with up to date product information and
prices in the language/currency for the region they are in. The
system generates an orderable code that can be passed into the
sales system, is fully editable by Xerox through a suite of bespoke
editing tools and stores information for 8000+ product
configurations. It allows the input of product codes to view
machine configurations, prints high quality datasheets and finally
is available in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
The Xerox Product Configurator is the most downloaded tool
available on the Xerox European extranet. The online version
receives over 4,000 hits a month while the offline version has been
launched over 12,000 times since October 2008.
