The challenge
Johnson & Johnson Medical were faced with mounting
costs and time efficiency issues in getting their new sales
staff up to speed with the complex JJM product portfolio. They
decided to migrate from a purely face-to face training
methodology to utilising a digital solution.
The solution
Working closely with medical experts, both within JJM and
externally, Signals produced a series of sales training
CD-ROMs in over 15 languages, including Traditional and
Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Thai. The subjects included
Wound Management, Surgical Gowning, Surgical Gloves, Packs and
Gowns, Catheters and Artificial Skin techniques.
The programs were an early example of blended
learning, whereby they could be self paced as well as used
within a classroom environment. A number of innovative
techniques were employed, such as complex medical terms being
linked to a spoken pronunciation file, progress tracking and an
extensive reference database.
"We are confident that comprehensive and accurate
product knowledge is now being given to all sales and marketing
personnel. The CD Rom /e-learning technology has allowed us to
provide innovative and cost-effective training across the
region."
